We are currently working on materials for the new TOEFL test. ETS has published a fair amount of information about and materials for the test.
We will have free classes during the week of January 12-18, 2026. The free classes will include the following tasks:
- Listen and Choose a Response (listening section). These are difficult because there is not much context. When I taught Paper-based TOEFL in the 1990s, there was a similar task, and it was not easy.
- Listen to an Announcement (listening section). The difficulty with it is that American campus culture can be very different from Japanese campus culture, so there will probably be times when the content is unfamiliar.
- Listen and Repeat (speaking section). This is a listening, short-term memory, fluency, and pronunciation task.
- Take an Interview (speaking section). This is basically the old iBT independent speaking task without the preparation time.
