Advice: Various

I've collected a bunch of systematic mistakes people have made in class over the years and written them on post-it notes, thinking that maybe some day I would publish them in a book.

So while we are all social distancing, I think I'll publish some of these on the blog.

My first advice is this: Avoid the word "various." Why? Two reasons:

  1. It's a meaningless expression. Aim to express yourself with concrete words.
  2. It's hard to pronounce. It's got a V and an R in it, and often sounds like "balious."
